Eugene Simms

Instructor - Fashion Styling

“Style is the culmination of your life's journey.Simply, style is everything that you are.”

Eugene Simm’s journey into style began at home. Growing up, the family code was to dress well when  leaving the house, “after all you represented the family.” During his 8 years in Catholic School, Simms learned how to distinguish himself from his navy blazer and light blue shirt cloaked classmates by adding a personal touch of individual pizzazz- a beret & brown suede horsebit loafers. Earning his GED then pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences at his community college, Simm’s realized his dream of fashion and style persisted. After 2 years in community college, he set his sights on his dream something greater. In 2008 his passion for style was renewed r and the foundation for his sense of style began to form. While working at Club Monaco boutique in Washington DC, he began developing a keen eye and understanding of silhouette, proportion, cut, fabrication and colour. “I enjoyed helping clients transform into better versions of themselves through personal style.” Eager to learn the intricacies of fashion, Simm’s began interning with local fashion shows, organizations and brands - DC Fashion Week, Craze Chameleon Studio, Lost Boys Boutique, African Allure, Lofa Magazine, Lord & Taylor - Chevy Chase, Assistant to Director of Beauty & Style for Indie Fashion Week DC.

In 2016, his personal and professional experiences led Simms to create ESA Style LLC - a full service personal and fashion styling agency based in thriving downtown Silver Spring, MD. “I want to educate, elevate and empower women, men and young adults to embrace their personal style, while cultivating a better understanding of themselves.”

Mr. Simms, currently serves as a member of the DC Commission on Fashion Arts and Events  - Retail Committee, in addition to creative consultant for luxury streetwear brand, Behind the Facade Clothiers, noted as BTF Clothiers.
